Jordan Hasty (aka) Jordan Taylor is 31 years young and was raised in South Carolina. She graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelors in Arts Government in 2011. Jordan aspires to specialize in Gender Justice law and advancing women’s rights and legislation impacting the lives of women, girls, and children. In 2011, she created an idea for a memoir & online documentary series called, #LegallyBlack, inspired by Legally Blonde the movie, to raise awareness about the complex barriers women and people of color still face in bridging the opportunity and income gaps in America— on the paths to becoming lawyers.
Artist’s Statement:
I believe in making art for the black girls and women across the globe who are often told to stifle and quiet our passionate creativity
I make art for lovers. Lovers of life, lovers of food, lovers of folk, lovers of God
I make art to help contribute towards a better society. To create a new vision of what is possible for an improved world and enhanced quality of life
I make art to heal the collective human wounded soul. The aspects of life such as: heartbreak, infidelity, disappointment, fear, separation, difference, contrast, loss, pain, trauma, suffering, betrayal, are personified and then subsequently alchemized through my works
I believe colors heal. When we take in the vibration of vibrant color schemes, we are predisposed to be positively impacted—brightening our moods
I enjoy making abstract art because it feeds my spirit and nourishes my soul. I pray that these vibrations spread love, harmony, hope, peace, and joy to you as witness.
Art making brings us closer to God. These works are a humble attempt to manifest my piece of Divinity on earth in this time space bringing Glory to the Lord, most High God. I thank you for your interest and sharing this experience together.
